Ms. Dance

Hello students and parents!

My name is Kyla Dance and I am the school counseling coordinator for Stonewall Jackson Middle School. I work with students who's last names start with L-Z and I am so happy to be returning to Jackson for my second year. Last year I learned that this is a fantastic school with great kids, teachers, parents, and support staff and I feel grateful to be a part of the charger family.

About me:

I graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and minor in Psychology. In 2010 I graduated from Radford University earning my Master's degree in Counseling and Human Development with a specific focus in School Counseling. I hold a Virginia license in school counseling grades pk-12 and spent four years working as a high school counselor before coming to SJMS. I enjoy playing volleyball, running, hiking, watching Hokie football, and loving on my adorable but mischievous dog, Bailey.

What I do:

Middle school years are both fun and challenging so I am here to help students and parents navigate through them. We will be addressing the academic, career, and social development of students at Jackson through classroom guidance lessons, individual counseling, and sometimes group counseling when appropriate.

How you can see me:

Student are always welcome (with a pass) to stop by and see me as long as I am not with another student or in a meeting. Parents can call me and ask me to meet with their student. Sometimes a teacher or a principal will let me know about a student who may need my help. Parents, if you feel like you need to make an appointment to meet with me please call my office (540) 853-6459.

I am looking forward to another great year at Stonewall Jackson Middle School.

All in!
